Carbon steel ball, carbon steel ball:
Materials: Q235, AISI1010, AISI1015
Specifications: 0.4 mm - 50.8 mm;
Levels: G100-G1000;
Carbon steel balls, also known as carbon steel balls or iron balls, are primarily made of Q235, a high-quality low-carbon steel widely used in various industries. Carbon steel balls are categorized as heat-treated and non-heat-treated, i.e., fired and unfired. Heat-treated balls have high surface hardness after carburizing. Non-heat-treated balls, without heat treatment, have lower hardness and are commonly called iron balls. They are easy to weld and widely used in welding iron, clothes hangers, handicrafts, and many other applications, and are relatively inexpensive. Different hardness levels have different uses; only the appropriate hardness is good.
• Application Areas: 1010/1015 carbon steel balls are a very common type of steel ball, characterized by low price and high hardness, and have a wide range of applications. They are commonly used in bicycles, bearings, pulleys, slide rails, handicrafts, shelves, universal balls, suitcases, and small hardware, and can also be used for grinding other media.
• Features: Magnetic, ferrite metallographic structure, usually oily packaging, typically electroplated when exposed, can be zinc plated, gold plated, nickel plated, chromium plated, etc.; relatively strong wear resistance, HRC50-55.
• Comparison: Compared with bearing steel balls, carbon steel balls have lower wear resistance and hardness (GCR15 steel balls have a hardness of HRC60-66): therefore, carbon steel balls have a relatively shorter service life.
Surface Treatment and Foundry Operations
In foundry workshops, metal fabrication plants, and blasting rooms, operators need media that can support efficient surface cleaning, oxide removal, or preparation before coating while keeping process behavior stable over long production cycles. High-purity ductile iron granules fit this scenario because their controlled size range and durable structure help maintain practical blasting performance and reliable coverage in industrial equipment. This makes them well-suited for facilities that need stable material behavior, straightforward replenishment, and process consistency in daily operation.
Industrial Material Supply and Component Manufacturing
In industrial supply environments that serve machinery plants, parts processors, and buyers comparing materials such as carbon balls, bicycle bearing balls, or products from steel ball manufacturers, procurement teams often need a material option that matches specific process requirements without creating handling difficulties. These ductile iron granules serve that role by offering a practical specification range for different equipment and treatment conditions, helping buyers choose a stable media solution that fits production planning, storage management, and routine maintenance needs. This is why they are a reliable choice for component manufacturing and related industrial support applications.

Steel ball testing
The hardness of steel balls is generally tested using a Rockwell hardness tester, and is usually expressed as HRC+ value.
1. The hardness of bearing steel balls is generally HRC60-66;
2. The hardness of stainless steel balls is generally around HRC26;
3. The hardness of carbon steel balls is generally HRC55-65;
4. The hardness of the soft carbon steel ball is approximately HRC30;
G5 and G10 high-precision steel balls are mainly used to measure ellipticity, that is, the spherical error of the ball, which is mainly detected by a roundness meter. Through its measurement, a computer can draw a very precise trajectory, thereby determining whether the ellipticity is correct.
The most important thing for steel balls is to measure the tolerance using a micrometer or a spiral micrometer. Large steel balls are measured using vernier calipers.
